Telling the Family

So I also posted a blog when we told the family that we were pregnant. I was 7 weeks when we told them. I had butterflies in my stomach, all day that day!!!

Here's the post:

Telling the Family

We thought long and hard about when, how, and
where we were going to tell our families. It's so hard
sometimes to get both sides of the family together;
so we decided to do lunch with my family and then
dinner with his, all in the same day. We went out the
morning of to look for a gift for the Grandmas to be.
We easily found something for Jim's Mom, being that
this baby will be the first Grand Baby in the family.
We got her a pink t-shirt that read Never fear
Grandma is here! My Mom was a little more tricky,
she is a Grandma already to 7 other grandkids. So
finding something for her took a little more time, but
we did. I decided to get her a picture frame that
read, Grandchildren are the sunshine of life.

I got everything wrapped and ready to go for the big
day, and we were excited as all get out. When we got
to my sister's house (where we were having lunch) I
started to get really nervous, which then made me
very nausea. Me and Jim couldn't wait any longer, so
before we ate we handed my Mom the present (my
heart was beating like crazy). When she finally read
the note (which it seemed like forever for her to
unwrap it) her face lit up and you could see the
excitement in her eyes, which of course made my
eyes water.  I then got a hug from my Mom, a slap
on the leg from my sister Becky followed by a hug,
my sister Lisa gave me a hug (never really happens,
not a touchy feely kind of person), my Dad gave me
the biggest hug I've EVER received from him, and my
Brother sat there in shock. The rest of the time there
was filled with smiles, laugher, and many questions.
Over all a very successful surprise!

After we stuffed our faces with food at my Sister's
house we moved on to dinner with the Felps. By this
time I was getting very tired, but still very excited to
tell them our secret. When we got there we had our
small talk about how everyone was and what was
new in our lives, while we waited for Grandma M. to
arrive. I'm more than positive that I was biting my lip
and twitching my feet waiting for her to arrive. When
she finally arrived (in reality was only 8 mins) Jim
went outside to grab the gift. Julie was surprised just
by the fact we got her the gift, little did she know
was why. When she opened the gift, she was the
only one who knew what the gift ment. Ed and
Grandma where a bit confused when they saw Julie
jumping and screaming. When she unfolded the shirt
for everyone to see the excitement then filled the
room with congratulations and hugs.

The funny thing about both of our Moms was that
they both asked if they could brag on Facebook. You
got to love the bragging rights a Grandma gets to
have, but sadly to them we didn't want to put it up on
at the moment. But I can only imagine what is going
to be said when we give the green light!
